July 2017: What’s New with MobileCaddy and Your Salesforce Mobile Apps

The Latest from the MobileCaddy Product Team - July 2017

One of the most exciting things about our Application Delivery Framework (ADF) is that it’s constantly growing and evolving, to allow our partners and customers to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with mobile apps on the Salesforce platform. As such, it’s vital that we help our community stay abreast of all the new MobileCaddy features and updates as they’re released.

With that in mind,  I’ve decided to record and publish my regular discussions with Paul, our CTO, Todd, our Chief Mobile Technical Architect, and Frank, our Lead Product Engineer. In these sessions we’ll be covering what’s new with MobileCaddy, and will be sharing this with you to provide a first-hand look at everything we’ve been working hard on to improve.

So what’s new with MobileCaddy this month?

Exploring the Developer Skills Needed to Build Apps with MobileCaddy

The MobileCaddy framework removes a great deal of the hard work for developers tasked with building sophisticated enterprise mobile apps. This means the business investing in the app won’t need to seek new developer skills or spend to recruit new team members thanks to MobileCaddy, and the developers can focus entirely on delivering the app itself. This article will detail the many ways the framework makes this possible, giving the business complete confidence it will be getting the app it needs.

You’ll always need capable, competent people to build a mobile app which can add value to an organisation beyond the obvious improvements to basic worker productivity. That’s why finding a solution which allows the people you already have to rely on their existing skills and focus on delivering that app, rather than working on tedious, time-consuming development, is so important.

With the MobileCaddy Application Delivery Framework, developers can quickly and easily build these more advanced mobile apps using a familiar set of skills, as the solution removes the need for specialist development, and provides helpful guidance across all stages of the project.

Here, we’ll answer key questions our partners and clients ask us about the skills needed to begin a mobile project on the Salesforce platform using the MobileCaddy Application Delivery Framework.

Looking Beyond the Limitations of Salesforce1 Mobile Apps

mobile-appsFor businesses looking to leverage the Salesforce platform to mobilise operations, enabling the now inescapable demand for ‘deskless work,’ it’s common for Salesforce1 mobile apps to be the vehicle chosen to make the first attempt.

When given to employees within a business, mobile apps are intended to make those workers faster, more accurate, and more effective in doing their jobs.

That ability to work seamlessly from a mobile device at any time, in any location, is ideal for driving productivity. But unfortunately, those valuable gains will only be achieved if the right mobile apps are introduced.

While Salesforce1 is a great first step for a business to take when setting out on its mobile journey, the inherent limitations can only stretch so far.

salesforce-mobile-appsThere are many complex technical and commercial decisions to be made by enterprises when searching for a solution to build effective Salesforce mobile apps in the current market. But when an organisation is able to find the right technology, which can deliver exactly what they need, how does the process then continue, and how should the relationship develop?

Following the successful completion of a mobile app project for a customer named The Travel Corporation, Ltd. (TTC), alongside our strategic partners Appirio, we recently sat down to speak with Calvin Goodenough, the Subject Matter Expert from the project, to ask him about his experience working with MobileCaddy.

What was your first impression of working with MobileCaddy?

Calvin Goodenough: A previous attempt had been made at getting the Tour Operations Portal (TOPS) mobile app project off the ground in September 2015, but this was ultimately abandoned. As a consultant, I wasn’t involved in the selection of the partners, so had no knowledge of them prior to our first kick-off meeting in mid-December.

Designing for Success: Countdown to the Salesforce World Tour, Part 4

Designing-for-successAs our series of exclusive insights from members of the MobileCaddy team continues, I sat down with our Senior Mobile Technical Architect, Todd Halfpenny, to discuss what he feels is the most important thing for business leaders to get right to successfully build a mobile app which delivers value for their employees.

Todd explained: “Essentially, the design of an application – not just in terms of its graphical representation, but how it’s actually built, and the UX flows which are thought about – is the key thing in mobile at the moment.

Because users are working across so many different devices now, especially with BYOD becoming more and more popular, you have to be able to cater for all sorts of different screen sizes and different hardware with your design decisions.
