March 2018 – London Salesforce Developer User Group

london-dg-thumbnailEvery month, the London Salesforce developer community gets together to discover great development practices, get to grips with new features and give feedback on APIs and the development experience. As proud sponsors, we ensure all the excellent speaker sessions can be made available online to further the London DUG opportunity for open dialogue and the exchange of ideas.

This month, we had two talks from London DUG members:

Todd Halfpenny @toddhalfpenny

Todd is Chief Mobile Technical Architect at MobileCaddy. By day he makes mobilising Salesforce easier and more robust.

Browser Dev Tool Debugging like a Unicorn-Ninja-Cat-Rockstar

Or in other words… tips and tricks on how to make the most of your browser’s developer tools. With JavaScript becoming more and more a part of a developer’s day, understanding these tools will be a huge benefit. Todd covered how you can get them working for you and use them to their full potential. He took a deeper dive into the different dev-tool tabs (Network, Source, etc.), highlighting often unknown features and tips such as conditional breakpoints and snippets.

Keir Bowden (aka Bob Buzzard) @bob_buzzard

Keir Bowden is CTO of BrightGen, a Platinum Salesforce consulting partner in the UK and is a multi-time Salesforce MVP and Certified Technical Architect.

The Salesforce CLI – The Developer Multi-tool

Keir grew up with the command line and is pleased to be using it again. He covered how the Salesforce CLI (sfdx command) was released as part of the SalesforceDX initiative, and most examples you’ll see are around working with scratch orgs. But did you know it can be used for the metadata API? Or to manipulate records?

Thanks to BrightGen, who are the hosts and sponsors of the London DUG Meetup for March 2018.

This community is driven by its members for the benefit of its members. So if you want to speak about projects you’ve worked on, want to host a Meetup, tell people about blogs you’ve written, or highlight your repositories on github, then let the community know.
