Jan 2018 : MobileCaddy Trust Update

Welcome to our January 2018 MobileCaddy Trust update, designed to keep you up to speed with all the latest mobile OS releases and new versions, cover anything relevant which is new with the Salesforce platform, and offer a look ahead to forthcoming changes or issues which will be important for you to keep an eye on.

OS Releases

iOS 11

Further to our previous update there has been a few further iOS minor update pushed to GA. This release also focuses on security updates. At the time of writing the latest GA version is 11.2.5

There should be no need to update container apps for this minor release.

The Developer and Public Betas are continuing to roll-out and these have been progressing without issue through our daily test runs. At the time of writing, the latest developer release is now 11.3 beta 1.

Android Oreo (‘O’)

Following the minor release Android 8.1 in December there have been no further releases.

There should be no need to update container apps for Android ‘O’ v8.1.

Salesforce Platform

The Spring ‘18 release rolled out into Sandbox instances during January, and will be installed into production orgs in February, with the first instances being upgraded on the 3rd Feb.

Sandboxes are continually being patched and at the time of writing we’re running our daily tests against Patch 6.4.

Throughout the Spring ‘18 release cycles we have been monitoring and testing against multiple org shapes. To date, there have been no MobileCaddy related issues seen during the cycle.

Timings for Spring ‘18 can be seen in this graphic, released by Salesforce.

Org Migrations

From time-to-time, Salesforce undertakes a maintenance operation called an Instance Refresh. This is performed for various reason, but primarily to maintain good performance. As part of this your org may be moved to a new data center. More information on this, and steps that might be needed, can be found in this Salesforce Help Document.

* Correct at time of writing.

There are currently no Instance Refreshes publicised.
