Dec 2017: MobileCaddy Trust Update

Welcome to our December 2017 MobileCaddy Trust update, designed to keep you up to speed with all the latest mobile OS releases and new versions, cover anything relevant which is new with the Salesforce platform, and offer a look ahead to forthcoming changes or issues which will be important for you to keep an eye on.

OS Releases

iOS 11

Further to our previous update, there has been one further iOS minor update pushed to GA. This release also focuses on security updates. At the time of writing the latest GA version is 11.2.1

There should be no need to update container apps for this minor release.

The Developer and Public Betas are continuing to roll-out and these have been progressing without issue through our daily test runs. At the time of writing, the latest Public Beta is 11.2 Beta 5.

Android Oreo (‘O’)

The first and only update to Android O was released to the public mid-december. The Android 8.1 release was monitored and tested by MobileCaddy through its developer release cycle, and no issues were seen.

There should be no need to update container apps for Android ‘O’ v8.1.

Salesforce Platform

MobileCaddy observed the Spring ‘18 pre-release become available on the 12th December, and this was immediately included in our daily test runs.

Here’s a list of known Salesforce issues currently assigned to the Spring ‘18 release. The count currently stands at 188 issues. None of these are believed to impact MobileCaddy users.

The release will continue to be tested as patches are made by Salesforce, to ensure compatibility with MobileCaddy, and our applications.

Timings for Spring ‘18 can be seen in this graphic, released by Salesforce.

Org Migrations

From time-to-time, Salesforce undertakes a maintenance operation called an Instance Refresh. This is performed for various reason, but primarily to maintain good performance. As part of this your org may be moved to a new data center. More information on this, and steps that might be needed, can be found in this Salesforce Help Document.

* Correct at time of writing.

There are currently no Instance Refreshes publicised.
